THE CITADEL
The Citadel is the high, severe summit rising above Kurtal and Broli, known in James Ullman’s sense not as a built fortress but as the alpine fact itself — snow field, black ridge, ice face, and impossible ascent.
Below the snow field sits Base Zero, the only true stronghold on the mountain’s lower reach. To the passing eye it is a mountaineering outfitter: rope, steel, wool, waxed canvas, skins, frames, field tools, and weather gear prepared for those who enter the high country.
Its deeper purpose is largely unknown: Below Base Zero is the residence of The Collected, who like his partner, The Gilded, is a Ceroavaono eternal, and keeper of every frame and every skin that has ever entered a worldgate.
The Glass Guild and the Ore Guild converge at the Pedreira, where mineral extraction, refinement, and stewardship begin.
